COLOR OF CHANGE REJECTS WHITE HOUSE EFFORTS TO UNLAWFULLY DISMANTLE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

NATIONAL – Earlier today, the Trump regime continued its efforts to dismantle the Department of Education, moving its functions to other federal agencies in an attempt to avoid Congressional oversight.

This move comes after Trump’s executive order in March to eliminate the agency, as well as multiple cuts to the Education Department’s workforce and funding. 

Portia Allen-Kyle, Interim Executive Director of Color Of Change, issued the following statement:

“Despite the fact that the President has zero authority to eliminate the Department of Education, this administration is dedicated to ripping apart the very agency meant to protect our children’s future, scattering its core responsibilities across six different federal agencies like it’s a game. This brazenly corrupt effort is an attack on Black students, low-income students,  students living with disabilities, and every family that depends on a stable, functioning  public education system to learn, grow, and thrive.”
