Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked the promotions of seven senior Navy officers. They join the more than two dozen generals and admirals who have been fired or sidelined, and the 40 senior officers who have been removed by Hegseth. More than HALF of them have been Black or female. 

The result is unmistakable: fewer Black leaders, fewer women leaders, and more power concentrated in the hands of Hegseth and his handpicked people. Hegseth is moving swiftly to resegregate the leadership of our nation’s most important institutions. 

Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle have expressed concern, but it’s time to force them to act. As our representatives rush to pass next year’s Pentagon funding bill, they must include guardrails to protect Black and women military leaders from Hegseth’s purge — but it’s going to take all of us speaking out to force them to do it.

The House just passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which means the bill is now up for consideration in the Senate, so we don’t have much time. Will you urgently send a message to your senators calling on them to take immediate action to stop Hegseth’s push to resegregate military leadership?
